The 2015 Research Distinction Awards

The 2015 School of Environment Research Distinction Awards function was held in October.

Head of school, Professor Paul Kench, welcomed the 80+ persons in attendance (with an excellent School of Environment staff and postgraduate student turnout), that included the DVC research designate, Professor Jim Metson.  Paul Augustinus (acting deputy Head - Research) outlined the schools's research recent successes in terms of grants, awards and publications, before a selection of senior and recently completed PhD candidates prosented their research. In addition, Janet Wilmshurst from Landcare Research at Lincoln (who has a fractional appointment with the school) talked about her exciting research programmes.

After the talks, Paul Kench presented the staff research and various postgraduate research awards, accompanied by a brief description of the rationale behind the allocation of each. The ceremony concluded at 5.45 pm whereapon most of the audience adjurned to the "Top of the Town" at the Pullman to continue the celebration.
