Postgraduate Masters Geology Student Wins Award

Congratulations to MSc geology student Saskia de Vilder who tied for first place at the 2011 "New Zealand Geotechnical Society Student Awards" - in the student presentation competition that took place on October 20. Saskia was awarded $500.
Megan Baddilley an MSc Geology student was also a finalist along with two of the School's Ph.D. geotechnical engineering students.
Saskia and Megan presented results from their research which is supervised by Dr Marc Andre Brideau titled "An engineering geological investigation of the Tutira Landslide Dam, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand (SdV)" and "Rock mass characterization and numerical modeling of coastal cliff failures in weak rocks in the Auckland-region (MB)".
